Holiday Break Make & Take Crafts

The KPLD Youth Department will offer Make & Take Crafts during the Holiday break. We want you to visit our Youth Room at your convenience so stop in any time between 10am and 6pm on any (or all) of the following days:

(Limit one craft per day per child – child must be present to participate)

Homeschooler’s Afternoon Returns September 7th!

Homeschooling families with students in Preschool through High School are welcome to join us monthly for an hour of educational activities including art, science, history and more!  It’s also a time to share resources and ideas with one another as well as receive assistance from Youth Librarians in locating books you’re looking for!

During the 2012-2013 school year, we will meet on 1st Fridays @ 1:30pm from September through April. This years dates include:

Reading is So Delicious! Summer Reading 2012

The 2012 Summer Reading Program officially begins on Tuesday May 29th and runs through July 7th. Between these dates, youth can receive prizes they earn by reading for fun!

*Registration begins May 14th and continues through the beginning of the program. PS – 8th Grade students register in the 2nd Floor Youth Services Dept.  (Summer Reading is also available for students entering 9th Grade in the fall and up as well as for Adults. Register for Young Adult and Adult Programs at the Main Floor Circulation Desk).

*At registration, students will receive a book bag with a calendar of summer events, a log sheet to measure reading progress, and a special surprise! 

Highlights of this summer’s program include:

*Rob Erdmann – Magician, Puppeteer, & Storyteller on Monday June 11 @ 11:00am

*Jim Nesci’s Cold Blooded Creatures – See and Learn about wonderful cold blooded critters! Thursday June 21st @ 3:00pm

*Magician Richard Landry and his rabbit Snowball will visit on Monday June 25th @ 11:00am

*Crafts, story times, contests and the chance to win grand prizes will also be available during the SRP!

*Students served by the Kewanee Public Library District can participate in the SRP free of charge!
